This video seams pretty tossed together. At first he says it ends on LL then next he says RR demo at the slow speed. Then he starts changing the sticking pattern completely. Whatever. I can play doubles that fast so it just seams like an upbeat double stroke improve. Sounds cool either way.

at 1:30, dave stops doing doubles with his hands. the snare hit on the down beat is no longer a double, not off the hat either. it sounds cool, but the pattern switches from doubles to a single stroke. try playing the first of the two strokes on the hat, the second on the snare; sounds killer. cheers.

I am still struggling with this. I get lost when I come back to the snare half way thru. Help! Lol

I've never understood this groove until now, kinda simple sticking but it gets tricky when the kick is added. Saw guys like Mangini and Gadd playing it and always loved it!

Hey everyone. Glad to hear that so many of you are enjoying and learning from this random clip I've thrown up. Even though Gadd is one of my heroes, I actually got this idea from Gary Chaffee. Hope this helps and maybe some of you can get some sleep tonight. Cheers!

Ever heard of a guy named Steve Gadd? Yeah, he pretty much invented this groove dude.

It's a 2 minute drum lesson guys, not a history lesson.Just enjoy the breakdown.

This was an EXACT Rick Latham groove, possibly Gadd inspired but this exact one is Rick's, its in his DVD as proof.

This is a little fucked up lol. What hes sticking from 1:06 to 1:15 is totally different from 1:19 on. Not "the same thing" at all. Still very cool, just misleading.

For all of the people bitching about him stealing a Gadd lick, Steve should acknowledge that he stole a portion of his best stuff from Philly, Max and Elvin.
