I truly love Daryle Singletary's voice and commitment to real country music. The only problem is "Kay" by John Wesley Ryles in 1969 is my second all time favorite country song (after "Hello Walls").... and the original "....two soldiers from Fort Campbell told me how they hate that war in Vietnam...." can't be left out. My humble opinion anyway. Keep up the wonderful music, Daryle........

Great song, but it belongs to Mr. Ryles! Can't beat the original, by the writer. Heard the story behind it years ago from his daughter.

"Two young Marines told me how the won that war in Vietnam"....we did!! The politicians lost it for us.

This is one of the best 60's songs ever. Daryle does a good job, with minor exceptions...changing the lyrics just doesn't work. I can listen to John Wesley Ryles do this song over and over and never tire of it. I love how he can fit all the syllables into the first line of the bridge. Notice Daryle does not...he's got several instruments removed. LOL. But all in all: if I could do it as well as Daryle I would not be complaining.

Heard he did'n't want to do this song. Glad he changed his mind.

I am usually not a fan of songs I know the original version of, but Daryle's version blows me away. Why isn't this man a mainstay on country radio? Oh, yeah, he's "too" traditional sounding. I forgot, country radio doesn't play country music anymore. I'd say it was their loss, but it is really the fans' loss. Love your music, Daryle.

John Wesley Ryles' version is much better. I like the music here but wuss'n out on the Afghanistan line is just wrong. We still haven't won that war in Afghanistan, and probably never will. I do like Singletary though, listening to him singing "Old Violin" is a magical experience.
