NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Philles 119 & 125X)) Out of Los Angeles, this soulfully heartwrenching vocal performance by Darlene Love stands as the definitive version of the perennial holiday tune. Recorded at Hollywood's Gold Star Studio in the summer of 1963, it was the only original tune included on the historic 'A Christmas Gift For You' LP that was pulled for a single. Written by Jeff Barry Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector, it would be reissued as a 45 on Philles in 1964 and again in 1965. While others have recorded the tune over the years, some with wonderful results, it is Darlene Love's on-fire vocals riding the Phil Spector 'Wall Of Sound' of the 1963 original version that stands above them all.

Heartwarming, goose bumps every time. Thank you Anthony for all these videos.. you've opened my eyes (and ears) to all the wonderful tunes I used to hear when I was little, but had no idea who they were performed/ produced by. Will share with my page All Things Phil Spector.
