Since the age of 17, I have played this album more than any other. In good times and bad, its restorative powers remain undimmed, its beauty relentless. I return for the songs and their direct cardiac address. For the vocal harmonies, chapel and profane. For the hurt, crackled varnish of Gram Parson’s voice. For the swimmy pedal steel sluiced through a rotating Leslie amp. For the fuzz and the fog and the clarity. And for times lost and regained.

this version of a classic tune strikes me as a bit too busy and up-tempo, and overproduced; , I prefer the live Ry Cooder version and the stripped-down Richard and Linda Thompson version. And somebody should go back and remix this Flying Burrito Bros version and tamp down the drummer who is riding the cymbals or snare drum with a brush from the sound of it, just turn that guy way down.

Anyone know if this is the lp version. It sounds slightly different to me.

There are many fine renditions of this beautiful song; and that includes this one. My personal favorite is by Ry Cooder (actually Cooder's backup band).

Fabulous band. Gram had a beautiful and unique voice. Not hard to figure why he sent for Emmylou Harris to join him. He heard another brilliant and unique singer and knew how beautifully they would go together. He was right and we are lucky. RIP Gram.

Gram Parsons was probably one of the most visionary rockers who ever lived and melded a crossbreed of styles into his own, My Man indeed, makes me cry
