THE BAND.....to me is the best musical ensemble in the history of rock n roll.I love that another great band has a tribute song to them...No idea, how many people out there even realize they know THE BAND and their talents and their continuing influence.Great songGood job Jason Isbell.

Thanks for this. A rare treat. But, as J says, this is about THE Band - which, after 40some years, still sounds brilliantly fresh and inventive. Danko - a drunkensongbirdtenor of stunning power, but Manuel? The funniest absurd countryjoke and haunting dark woven together. Sounds like gold.

That song is haunting... Its like he was seeing into the future of DBT, and saw the road they were traveling. Writing this song may have saved their own lives. Probably not. That just my imagination. But their band was living hard and fast at the time. Someone was gonna hit the ditch hard, sooner or later.
