Hi, Annabelle (I hope you see this).  I still remember singing that psalm set to Faure's Cantique de Jean Racine at St. Dominic's.  It was awesome (as is Dan, but in a different direction.  I hear he's playing in Guerneville soon, hoping to go).

This is AWESOME. The only things that could improve it are: Jamie Leopold. Symphony Sid Page. John Girton. Maryanne Price. Naomi Ruth Eisenberg.

Gosh...1969, Club 47 in Harvard Square. And he's still going strong...and the music is still as intoxicating as it was them.

I live in Texas, so I don't get the opportunity to see DH live much (and I miss TV gigs like this usually) so can anyone tell me: Has he switched back to drum(s) for good? That standup tom-tom/cymbal setup suits him perfectly, so he can dance and sway. Looking pretty healthy too. I always wanted to hear him jam with Ry Cooder or Asleep at the Wheel, kindred musical souls like that.

I just had the realization. If I have any choice in the matter, the last sound I want to hear in this three dimensional existence on planet earth are virtually any song by Dan Hicks (except "I Scare Myself") "Without music, life is a mistake." Nietche "With Dan Hicks, life is the greatest thing that can happen to anyone!" You can quote me.

When I was very young and pretty cute (long time ago) the guy at the record store called and said I've got a "8 track" you're going to love. I went up, got it, and it happened to be "Home of the Happy Feet". I've bought every one of his CDs since then. Every time I listen to a song, I think "That's my Favorite", then the next song comes on, and I think "Oh, wait, that's my favorite. Now that's good music when you can't pick a favorite song.

Artist like Dan Hicks should get government grant for life just to write music - he invented his own era. I bought his records as a kid growing up in Israel - he was the sound track of my youth.
