Dan Fogelberg (1951-2007) Beautiful song written by Judy Collins, from the 1978 album, "Twin Sons Of Different Mothers."

What I'll give you since you asked

Is all my time together

Take the rugged sunny days

The warm and rocky weather

Take the roads that I have walked along

Looking for tomorrow's time

Peace of mind--

As your life spills into mine

Changing with the seasons

Filling up the world with time

Changing time to reasons

I can show you all the songs

That I never sang to someone before

We have seen a million stars

Lying by the water

You have climbed the hills with me

To the mountain shelter

Taking off the days one by one

Setting them to breathe in the sun

Take the lilies and the lace

From the days of childhood

All the willow winding paths

Leading up and outward

This is what I give

This is what I ask you for

Nothing more

40 years ago I met my Love. I knew she was the one for me so much that I introduced her to Since you've asked. This became our Love anthem. After three lovely daughters and two grandsons with one on the way, I lost the love of my life after 38 years of marriage. At the final procession around the casket of my Love I had them play Since You've asked three times.I will be inscribing "Since You've Asked" on our headstone

I just played this for my husband. We have been going through many rough times as of late and just turned a corner. It seemed fitting to revisit this song that was sung/played at our wedding 31 yrs ago!

This is one of the most evocative songs I've ever ever ever heard. I can only play it at certain times, at other times I cry to it. And that, is a gift. Thank you Dan.

This was sung at our wedding 33 years ago today. Beautiful music and lyrics from great musicians. One whom was taken from us too soon.

My favorite music is by Dan. Put my headphones on at work and have been having the most wonderful moments listening to his voice and lyrics. It had been a long time. He is so missed. Feel like I knew him.

Thank you for watching! Your son obviously has good taste in music... nurture it, for he may just have a special gift. I sorely regret never seeing Dan in concert...such a terrible loss for us :(

Thank you for creating such a beautiful slideshow for one of the most beautiful singers ever. My son is 9 and he wants to watch it every night as a lullaby. I will always love Dan.

THIS is what the traditional easy listening/'beautiful music' stations SHOULD'VE been playing back in the day; NOT those damned low-budget remakes!

Dan was such a great songwriter, he didn't need to do any cover versions, but those he did were few and far between. This was a very tender interpretation of a Judy Collins song. I bet she liked it. I know I did.

@Tunesmith-thank you for the lovely comment, and the photo at 1:15-Dan's looks were as breathtaking as his voice....

I was at work the first time I heard this-it left me spellbound, transfixed...my coworkers didn't know what was going on so they all started calling me at once...I motioned them to be silent then just stood there listening. Then began a 25-year search with just Dan's name and the melody of the first line...finally found it on YouTube a few months ago...Stunning...one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard...thanks for posting
