He was only a year older than me. I miss the crap outta' him. I was a trucker back in 2008 and his Portrait CDs always went with me. Sometimes, I would just feel the tears falling down my face. My heart still goes out to Jean.

You are so right Dan! We will never ever forget that one person we think about during this song! :) What if will always be there, but no one can take our memory away of that one person.

It's beyond me to understand how this talent is so underecognized. With absolutely no doubt, DF is by far the most talented singer songwriter in the history of th U.S.

Amazing. I guess I'm old but you look at some of the pop stars today, and most if the biggest ones can't come close to this in their wildest dreams.

Beautiful song and timeless!!!He was the best at what he did and his songs were a story of his life like with any of us all....the girl or guy that got away or you let go and years later think back and wonder...what if???I am sure than everyone thinks about it...I DO...but i am happy with the lady i married 18 years ago...but...in our dreams i am sure that we all think about that special one from long ago that left our hearts for whatever reason it ended, and remember that love always finds a way

His best rendition I think was the 1991 live version, but this one is still fantastic, it's all Dan Folgerberg and that is how I remember it.

Wow, I think this version was amazing. That Soprano Sax riff at the end gets me everytime.

How does an artist ruin his work? He matured and so did his work...I love both versions, and am sorry he will not be able to continue to shape this wonderful song with his wonderful mind and talent.

I was fortunate enough to see Dan twice during the late 90's in Phoenix, both at the Mesa Amphitheater and Gamage Auditorium. Thanks to my ex-wife Michelle for 'dragging' me to the first one. I went with a preconception that I'd hate it. I was sooooo wrong. His voice had gained so much character over the years. It was a performance the likes of which I will never again see. I was awash in tears of joy by show's end. RIP Dan.

..in the audience. You could have heard a pin drop~total silence by all there~not a sound but Dan's voice singing & playing a piano. It was a "given" to Dan by all who attended there~to hear him~only him. Only Dan was ever listened to there this way. What a wonderful way for all of us there (sold out) to show Dan how great a gift it was to be there, to just "absorb" what he gave to us~his gifts of song that he wrote, played, sang, all solo, just Dan~ a gift from him none of us could ever repay.

fogelbergvideos another thank you. Back again to view this. I only attended 1 "concert" by Dan in an open ampitheater where normally you're lucky to hear anything but the audience. Dan performed alone, sang alone, played only his piano, elegant in a tuxedo. Such a surprise happened for the 1st time I'd ever experienced at this out-door ampitheater~silence by all who attended. No loud drunken talking~laughing~etc. Total silence by all who attended to hear Dan. Not a sound by anyone...

Thanks for posting. This is a beautiful song by a wonderful storyteller. What a loss to music that we lost Dan too soon.

nashtndawg, your statement "You either get that or you don't. You can't explain it....." I understand exactly what you're saying. You are so right. It simply cannot be explained......
