I have heard his first three albums more than anyone on the planet I'm sure, learned his music on piano and guitar. Every one of his songs reminds me of a place in time, of mine. His music goes to my core and speaks to my soul like no one else, and that's all I have to say about that.

So glad I found this video because I've heard this song twice in one drive and it ruined my day with its embarrassing lyrics: so cliche and so canned. I hate this song Dan Fogelberg, you butthead.

I never heard this beautiful song before (sorry, Fogelberg was never in my radar) but today as I approach our HS 25 yr reunion, it seems to encapsulate the sadness of knowing time has gone by. But I also know there is the flip side to the joy of having lived a full life. Thank you Mr. Fogelberg!

Wow, what an incredible song, by an incredible performer. I often wondered about the meaning behind the song, its quite obvious it came from his heart. Song brings me to tears everytime.

I cried while viewing this clip. How could anyone NOT feel this song, this performance of it? You must be heartless.....

i never was born in the 80's so i never heard of Dan before. Then a the year that he died, i heard this song, and i was so moved. I am a metal, punk, and really any hardcore music fan and when i heard this song, this song made me think of how time flys and how you will never get them back, only memories last that long to remind you that things come and go and you can't control it. i am 19 and i will miss the years of childhood and teen years, Dan thank you for making this song and rest in peace

You can tell he is not very robust in this video. He seems particularly melancholy. Perhaps he's pondering his own old lang syne.

Amazing to have been there. Little did we know that Dan was ill and later died of prostate cancer! DAMN cancer. Dan was brilliant and an all around nice man!

@JeanFogelberg ..... Jean...not sure whether you are a relative or not, but the wonder and joy this man brought to all of us, would be a complete waste if never released or worse, put to the sword of the financials that drive the record companies. I bought "the Innocent Age" (magnificent) and others...allow those that have never known him to likewise find him, and honour the memory.

People complaining about this version just flat out don't get it. This is absolutely beautiful. Jean I understand completely your viewpoint about honoring Dan's wishes, but just so you know, I come here and listen to this song on here every week and I cry and an memorized just like I am sure many others are. Dan's memory lives on!
