This is quite good. I love the 79 version from the US maxi single, better than the european version, the vocals were more dramatic. And I'm so glad that it was finally re-released on cd. Although I also love the slow versions I think it's actually very good as a disco theme.

@Thorneycroft1937 we will have to disagree on this one and we normally agree. `THIS IS MY LIFE` is one of her finest interpretations. It is a song in the `aria` tradition not surprising with it`s Italian origins. The RAH 1973 is terrific and as I was there for both performances that night it is wonderful to see. Shirley is a`live` artist first and foremost and we are fortunate that so much was filmed over so many years. Arguably the finest was of the moment and then only a memory.

@IFINEVERSING Yes, original new dance number would have been more appropriate maybe.My favourite performances are Italian TV 1968 and RAH 1973. There is also a performance of which a part was shown on o Grady show 2009 that looked great but it was only a small part towards the end, she sang it best in the 60s and 70s, during the many years she sung it live it got more over the top and too theatrical so that i am glad that she does not sing it anymore today.

@Thorneycroft1937 I wish they would leave this song alone and stop remixing it . It was for many years the closing number or very near the end of Shirley`s concerts. I wish in the disco era she had recorded an original dance number. Mind you this probably sounds great in a club. I have so many memories of the song, PROBABLY(?) THE FAVOURITE CLIP is the 1975 BBC TV SPECIAL. Also in 1980 the closing night at the APOLLO VICTORIA(LONDON) (7consecutive nights) singing`This is my life/La Vita`

A wonderful tribute! Although This is my life isn't one of my favourite songs by Shirley this tribute with fabulous photos and the lovely clips of our favourite and most famous performances (Berlin '87, Glastonbury, The Rhythm Divine, Viva Diva 1998, Royal Gala 1996, Royal Variety performance 2005, Australia 1978, Thank you for the years, Faenol 2006, Children in need 2009 and so on). This mixture of clips and photos is a perfect showcase for Shirley's voice and her songs.
