Love the music and Ms Clawson. But I'm confounded by the images in the video.("Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?" 2 Cor 6:14)Remedy: ignore the video and just listen to the music.

This is beautiful. Cynthia Clawson has a profoundly lovely voice with easy control and mastery. Wonderful. Whether it's classic, like this one, or whether she's singing blue grass, she is so talented that the music is inspiring.

This is taken from Job 19:25: "As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God;…

You might be very correct, Casey Tucker. But, then, you might be wrong. It seems that from my study of Messiah during my graduate work, I came to know that many of Handel's melodies were stolen from less than desirable dance halls of the time. He actually sounds like a very cool man.

I saw Cynthia Clawson and she is extremely good, with a 4-octave span. She is extremely good, very down to earth, and a fun concert to attend.

I can greatly appreciate this version.

Not to sound harsh, but he would probably think it terrible. Not only does the orchestration sound tacky but also the vocals sound poppy and modern.

I love how Cynthia Clawson sings this beautiful aria! This rendition of "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth" sounds like a popular song from 1968. I remember when popular songs sounded like this back in 1968. In fact it sounds like a Joni Mitchell song from the late 1960s. But this is from 1990 on the "Young Messiah" CD.

I love it! Believe it or not, Larry Gatlin can really sing this! But this is different and just lovely!

I believe Handel would enjoy this interpretation of I Know My Redeemer Liveth. Cynthia Clawson is blessed with a voice of an angel. Better... she knows her Redeemer does indeed live.

I was at first a little skeptical. Her voice is pretty good though. I don't like how the choir joins in though.

This rendition really sneaks up on you. At first I thought, man that really sounds different to my ears...but I know...about the middle way through it really started to get to me.. I think Clawson's version is wonderful. 5 stars. Praise God.

For anyone interested this very performance is from the CD "Handels Young Messiah" It's also available as a DVD. It was recorded at the First Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia about 15 years ago.

Zeekwolfe, this version was arranged for a recording "The Young Messiah," which was meant to bring Handel's annointed masterpiece to a younger crowd. You can tell by the contemporary accompaniment that they were trying to make it non operatic; while at the same time, keeping it pure, yet powerful. I'm sure Cynthia had the operatic quality to sing it as Handel intended.

This is a wonderful aria, but Cynthia Clauson's voice is just not up to it. It needs an operatic voice like Renee Fleming or even the late Elizabeth Schwartzkopf.
