Why does she drop her "r's?" Because Appalachian people still have a touch of the Brit sound, IE; Irish, Scotch in their accents. Google it. I've read that some areas still have Elizabethan dialects in their English.

dropping her Rs - It's OK for a pirate to say ARRRRRRRGH, but "Too many loverrrrrrrrs" would sound ugly coming from a singer. Singing is mostly vowels, so it often uses different pronunciations than conversational speech because, believe it or not, it comes across better on the sustained notes. When talking it would sound British to drop Rs, but in singing it's very common.
