+InexorableRotting Meh, I really don't care for the parallel much. I personally think that the plague of "neo-classical" tech death is taking away from what the genre did so well. It starts feeling like bands seeking credibility through associating themselves with classical music. It lacks that raw primitive element that makes the genre great and truly expressive. It's expression without borders. Classical music is music with a tremendous amount of borders. While blending the two can work in terms of adding structure to the madness, I think it often just makes it come off feeling confused and contrived. Death metal like Cryptopsy is timeless because it just feels honest. The whole Necrophagist worship phase is ending cause, well, frankly it was never that great, lacked any groove, and lacked emotion. I'm happy to see that there's a lot of artists coming out that are going back to more roots stuff with a modern twist like Malthusian, Bolzer, etc.
