Cry" is the title of a song released by the British musicians Godley & Creme in 1985. It was included on the duo's album The History Mix Volume 1.
The song peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Godley & Creme's lone Top 40 hit in the US apart from their former band, 10cc. It also reached #12 on the UK Singles Chart.
The duo also directed the song's music video, which featured faces blended into each other using analog cross-fading, anticipating the digital effect of morphing used in a very similar way in Michael Jackson's 1991 video, "Black or White".
LYRICS:
You don't know how to ease my pain
you don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain.
You don't know what the sound is
darling
It's the sound of my tears falling
or is it the rain?
You don't know.
You don't know how to play the game
and you cheat
you lie
You make me wanna cry
you make me wanna cry
Cry
you make me wanna cry.
You don't know how to ease my pain
you don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain.
Don't you hear any voices crying?
That's the sound of our love dying. Here comes the rain.
you don't know how to play the game
and you cheat
you lie
you don't even know how to say good-bye
you make me wanna cry
You don't know.
You don't even know how to say good-bye
you make me wanna cry
you don't even know how to say good-bye
you make me wanna cry
Cry
cry
cry
cry.
