No, I still don't think you understand. Macedonia and Greece hasn't been independent for more than 2000 years, being run by Romans, Byzantines, Bulgarians and Ottomans before becoming independent. I wasn't talking about the legitimacy of the FYROM. It is a pretty ridiculous (and audacious!) claim, considering that the ruins of Pella are in Greece and Macedon was Greek speaking etc. It's like calling Boston Cu Chulainn's homeland. I was just saying that the Greeks didn't consider Macedonia to be Greek, if Alexander didn't exist you probably wouldn't care about the land, and the country is called Macedonia whether you like it or not and the guy happens to be from Macedonia. Macedonia was never a Greek city. It was a country. The Ancient Greeks never considered it to be Greek because they were uncivilised and drank far too much. Maybe now Greeks consider it Greek, thanks to Alexander, but without him you would probably not give two shits.
