Because we didn't recognize: the Beatles,Stones,Cream,Led Zeppelin, on and on... I love this group, but they didn't write as many hits as some groups, and therein lies the problem.

@whyohwhy999 AMEN to that! i've been a fan since the 80s, but never saw them come to Houston or the surrounding areas while i was a teen. finally got to see them at Stubbs in Austin last year, and it was amazingly intimate. even got to meet the boys! they are incredible, to be sure!

The only good thing about them not becoming a huge and deserving phenomenon in the US is the greatest gift when they tour the US -- we get great seats at reasonable prices and sometimes access to fabulously intimate performances. American fans are loyal and true, and we all think we've discovered this precious secret gift that only a certain percentage of us have been able to marinate in for years. You could call it our Private Universe :)

@anthonythirteen That sounds accurate enough too. Knowing CH it probably was misplaced humour. After all the guys are always having a laugh, and their concerts are as much fun as they are brilliantly performed due to the humour and personalities in the group. I just LOVE this band.

It was going fine in the US for them until they released Chocolate Cake as the first single from their 3rd album 'Woodface'. The band themselves are not anti-american of course, & 2 of the current members are american, but the song itself had an anti american stereotype feel . A lot of people in the US lost interest in them after that which is a loss to those people themselves. You are quite right that Neil & this band are one of the top writers/performers around now or ever. LOVE this song.

Another great song by one of the most brilliant bands ever. Neil Finn is one the greatest song writers that has ever been. Doesnt get as much credit as he deserves. They are HUGE in Australia, Europe and Asia..Whats wrong with Americans?? We always seem behind when it comes to talented groups.
