My grandmother would have *loved* this song. And perhaps because I am her granddaughter, I have a secret passion for well-done bluegrass spirituals. Makes me remember her hands, lifted in praise.

Wow... It's amazing how Cash turned this religious piece of shit into something beautiful about life's hardships and overcoming them. Years later and still missing the man in black.

Actually, I have to say I like Johnny's better. And I'm not a HUGE Cash fan or anything but I feel more of a...connection between True Blood and the way he's singing. The banjo in this one is nice though.

It's really funny that everyone is trashing this version because they say its not "dark enough" for the original. As others have said, Cash did not write this song. It was originally written as a gospel song testifying to the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. It's suppose to sound happy and joyful because it's a song about victory over death. Johnny Cash's version was released later in life, when he knew he was about to die. It's dark because of that.
