they toured together at least once that i know of. Midnight 'may' have had a higher pitch (it would be interesting to compare), but there is no power there. but its not just the voice. they stole the guitar sounds, the chord progressions, the overall tone of the songs, its embarrassing really.

They were around during the same time Queensryche 1981 Crimson Glory 1982 (and I doubt they both were not as popular to have heard of each other) in opposite sides of the country. The both have excellent voices. Many singers have lookalike voices. Midnight IMO had a more higher pitch than Tate.
