Crested Hens (Les Poules Huppées) is an ethereal melody composed in 1983 by French hurdy-gurdy player Gilles Chabenat and here performed with exquisite interpretation (the best version in my opinion) by the Irish folk group Solas from their self-titled debut album released in 1996. I have decorated it here with landscapes of a lovely, graceful, slender lass. The Solas album has other wonderful, lively and gentle songs, some with vocals -- an excellent buy!

People are being so rude about the girl, who's brave enough and comfortable enough in her own body, that she is proudly showing it. And in all honestly there isn't a need to be prude here. There are different uploads of this song that do not have her in the video, watch those. Admire the beauty rather than shun it. A wonderful girl, a wonderful photographer, and a wonderful song.

You all need a sense of humour... This tune is dedicated to hookers.. "crested hen" is Brittany slang for a hooker.. Because of their distinctive headdresses..

On reste scotché autant devant les images que devant la musique.

the images make this tune post look like an excuse for an individual who's not getting enough escort-service clients through craigslist. i wish solas would get it taken down, it's grotesque.

The poor girl looks like she's turning blue towards the end. I love this tune, but check out the live version on the Solas Reunion album. I think it's even better.

I can play this beautiful song on the flute and wanted to hear it played by another instrument. I was disenchanted by the vulgar posturing of the woman in the video. I guess I will listen with my eyes closed in the future.

A crass and cliched set of images accompany this lovely tune.

I keep coming back to this. It's definitely the best version I have heard.

A wonderful, bittersweet melancoly song full of longing....or is it just me....

At least to me the mood evoked by the music matches that evoked by the landscape, the lighting, and expressions and landscape of the lovely young lady.

This is certainly a beautiful rendition! I don't see the connection with the young lady but she is delightful to look at.
