and what do today's "youth" have to listen too?  Gangsta rap, and that's just what the ruling elites prefer.  Where are the protest songs of the Iraq war of aggression?

This was stupid to put nam and whats going on today together. Kids were drafted for that war these guys were not. If you join the military and don't want to go to war who's fault is that? No one ever get's to decide what war they fight. It has been that way from the start of man kind and will never change. Don't forge. What would you say to some one that joins a truck driving comp and doesn't want to drive. Then he's mad because he doesn't get to pick the routs he drives?

I hate how people compare iraq to vietnam. I served in iraq and I am proud to have served there. My dad served in vietnam and is proud he served there too. But he had it way worse than I did. Iraq was bad no doubt about it, and may all my brothers and sisters who were killed may they rest in peace, but we lost over 50,000 us servicemen in Vietnam.

@sunny39906 you have to be prepared to fight for and defend peace. those who think peace will just happen are just stupid as all hell. if i were american. i would be ashamed of those "peace loving" hippies. they had no clue what was going on. sad thing is, Nam could have been won.

Ironic how people who did everything possible NOT to go to Vietnam (Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz) when duty called on them were so gun ho about sending other people's sons and daughters to die in a war of their choosing. This song kicks ass.

@hodogetsmoney You're an idiot. How is this song patriotic? It's a protest against blind patriotism by cowardly politicans from the Vietnam War and the un-patrioticness is what makes it what it is.

@pelletgun12 Well, it's about getting drafted and being shipped off to fight the war while rich boys got to dodge the draft, so you could easily say it was about the war.

Nah nah nah. Don't do that. This song Belongs to US Vietnam Vets only. those who served in the boonies . . . those who rode the hueys and got into some problems somewhere in the jungle 42 years ago

@pwner9999 hmmm not sure I agree with that man, I see where you are going, but this song is about conscription into the army, Vietnam conflict was the last one that had it, the privilidged kids the song talkes about were students etc, that conscription didn't apply to, the Irony is of course if it wasn't for the students protests, the war might have lasted at lot longer, theres no conscription in the current war (as far as I am aware anyway)

john fogherty even said this was about rich kids who were able to dodge the draft, meanwhile everyone else had to go
