Still is a beautifully wistful song. Unusual at the time for a rock trio but then most bands were doing gentle songs on their albums..''Traffic'' had some of the slowest songs ( e.g. No Time To Live). It showed ""Creams"' versatility and was part of the whole hippy tradition. Some on here might say it was a ""granny song"' ..you have to recall that most of the post war Brit rock musicians in 1966 and on thru the hippy era had been influenced by trad jazz, English ballads, novelty tunes, traditional rhymes etc. LSD possibly added another dimension to what was already in their subconscious and brought it to the surface.I think Eric C went on to write mushier ballads than this by himself. A recent solo CD by Clapton notes the type of music close to his heart. Most are old show tunes and ballads from the 1930s-40s.R.I.P. Jack Bruce.)

Nice beautiful songs are rare ; my playlists of the best of the best include "as you said" and "badge" , but these guys had a blues agenda that overwhelmed the pop rock. Love them , but this is as boring the power blues, so once a decade is enough. Live , cream were great but day to day there is not enough beauty to merit repeat listens often. Danny kirwan is the only musician I have heard that has the interesting songs , beautiful songs , repeatedly wonderful songs.

I have to admit, the lyrics may be a little "dumb." But not all of them; the line "kiss again in the picture on the wall" is just brilliant. I think if more time had been put into the poetry, it would have been incredible. And the tune is catchy as hell.

It was Cream's first single.. Bruce brought it to rehearsals and Clapton would be like wtf, but Bruce explained it would be a great first song for a power trio(which were also really rare at that time), 'cause noone knew what to expect from them. After that clapton said that makes sense:D Peace and acid dudes and dudettes

It sounds more like something the Kinks or the Beatles would have done than Cream.

I don't know why you guys are hating on this song, its pretty sweet. just like most of their music, a good song to chill and get ripped to. so stop hating and start smoking.

Growing up in the 50's & 60's and flashing back to the strange collections of music, I'm still quite amazed how easily people are polarized by, "LIKES" & "DISLIKES." Oh well, I suppose real gods aren't supposed to touch the ground like us lowly mortals. If we let them down off their pedestals, then all of our petty complaints would sound like nostalgic egotism.

This sounds like one of those "granny songs" that Paul McCartney used to write.

I dun give a shit if anyone dun like this song, but this is a relaxing, chilling and whimsical song which could have been easily identified as The Monkees playing this if you had no idea it was The Cream.

I think you're right. Never knew this song existed until just now; watching the Cream documentary. They did a good job of burying it. It seems The Kinks borrowed from this song too in 1974- "Scrapheap City".

no matter how much clapton and Baker say they hate the song CERTAINLY EC being a sharp, brainy somewhat duplicitous cat and likely Baker too, were in favor of it. "it might help our chances." only latterly do EC and Baker slag it off.
