Cream - Spoonfull live at Royal Albert Hall, London.

May 2, 3, 5, 6. 1080p

2 of 22

In May of 2005 Cream returned to London's Royal Albert Hall-to the same stage where they had completed what was thought to be their final performance in 1968. It was one of the most eagerly anticipated, hard-to-get tickets in rock history. With the exception of a brief reunion set at their 1993 induction into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame, Cream had not played together in nearly four decades. This DVD documents Cream's momentous London shows. Performances from each of the four nights are featured and much more. Also included are alternate performances and interviews with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton. Cream formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1968. The band were a prolific and thrilling live act and toured incessantly in their short but remarkable history.

it's so nice to see an audience just sitting down and listening, it always pissed me off that you could be in the 20th row on the floor and not get to see anything because everyone would stand up and not sit for the entire show, and one time when I was 16, I saw Kiss and everyone first stood up, so you couldn't see anything, and then everyone stood on there seats so they could see, but then even the front was on there seats, and you could barely see anything again, so I ended up standing on my seat for an entire show with people taller than me in front of me like a brick wall, and what really gets me is how many concerts where the star on stage asks the audience to stand up, like they couldn't be enjoying the show if they are sitting down, but when i watch this amazing reunion from 2005 i think wow, what a lucky audience to see this rare show, and to actually be able to see it from any seat in the house, what a concept

This version is 1000% better than the Madison Square version!!! At MSG it feels like they are just going through the motions. Just listen to Clapton's gritty guitar and solos on this recording compared to the other. There is a also fantastic interplay with Clapton, Bruce and Baker that is totally devoid on the other recording.

Pure Legendary stuff rip JB ... following the break up of Cream in the late '60's Clapton surely toned down.. would have preferred to hear him play this concert on the Les Paul! BBM 's version with the late guitar god Gary Moore on guitar is a killer version done in the early 1990's.

I really prefer the version from 1968 - it focused more on the group as a whole and less on Clapton. The jam session on the '68 session is wonderful. I enjoy this one but it has lost a bit of its soul in this performance.
