Cream - Crossroads live at Royal Albert Hall, London.

November 26th, 1968

5 of 11

"Farewell Concert" is the live recording of the Cream's final concert at the Royal Albert Hall on November 26th, 1968.

Directed by Tony Palmer, the film incorporates pieces of six performances with narration by BBC announcer Patrick Allen, along with interviews with the band members themselves, showcasing their playing abilities.

The film has often been criticized for both its mediocre sound and visual effects.

In 2005, a special extended edition of the concert appeared featuring full versions of all songs separated from the narration and interviews. The new version featured digitally remastered sound and video including three bonus songs.

All those people complainin about the camera work obviously don't get its aim. The see/not see thing integrates perfectly with the epicness of those concerts: myths don't exist except that in our minds, the key is the storytelling, and a good narrator knows what to hide and what to show.

Another hack filming job from the period. The distraction of the filming takes center stage to the performance. A colossal nuisance. No fingers on the fret board!

the original does not this amount of echo or reverb, it really distorts Eric's solos big time.

Although I'm primarily a bass fan, I'm particularly impressed with Ginger Baker's work behind the kit on this track. What an amazing mad drummer...kinda reminds me of what Keith Moon used to do for the who. Brilliant bands, both of them. Jack Bruce, you were amazing on this track, too...really loved it when Clapton's lead solo came in...was only listening to Jack's bass line. Great stuff, boys!

Worst camera-work in history. Truly a shame. You'd think that with all their #1 success and all that and Jack going from living in a tenement to buying a Ferrari Daytona in 2 years, they would hire someone professional who wasn't half-retarded to be their cameraman but no.
