Cream - Born Under A Bad Sign live at Royal Albert Hall, London.

May 2, 3, 5, 6. 1080p

13 of 22

In May of 2005 Cream returned to London's Royal Albert Hall-to the same stage where they had completed what was thought to be their final performance in 1968. It was one of the most eagerly anticipated, hard-to-get tickets in rock history. With the exception of a brief reunion set at their 1993 induction into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame, Cream had not played together in nearly four decades. This DVD documents Cream's momentous London shows. Performances from each of the four nights are featured and much more. Also included are alternate performances and interviews with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton. Cream formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1968. The band were a prolific and thrilling live act and toured incessantly in their short but remarkable history.

RIP Jack Bruce I actually prefer the lyrics in this song over the original.

Why do so many people compare this performance to the Wheels Of Fire recording? There are so many years in between that you cannot expect the same performance. It is amazing that Jack is still singing so powerfully, considering his health issues at the time, and his bass was still up there with the best. Alright, the strat is never going to have the same tone as the Gibson, but Clapton has the right to chose his weapon. I just wish my band could do this song as well as this!

Never got what all the fuss was about Clapton. Anybody have any suggestions where to look to find his best work? Otherwise I'm ruling OVERRATED.

This version sucks major balls. In the studio version Baker is just huge, here he is almost useless. Embarrassing even. Clapton is also pretty damn disappointing.

They sound like a bunch of thinned out geezers who cringe at the sound of a Marshall and a Gibson. It's okay. People can argue up and down at how much BETTER they are now [were in Jack's case RIP] but the fact is, they've geezed out on this show and sound not nearly as excited, fresh and powerful that was there when they pushed each other on a daily basis as players and passionate, hungry individuals [even if they were pretty drugged out and drunk a lot of the time in the old days]. I'd love to hear Eric pick up a Gibson and really lay into it. He's a Gibson player on a strat and doesn't listen to himself nearly as closely as he did when on the Gibby's. He's not a dyed in the wool strat player. He's a Gibson guy retired on a Strat. Beck is a true strat master. Blackmore is a true strat master. Page has to play a Gibson because if you make a mistake on a Gibby, the world pretty much comes to an end and Page needs that [even if he's arthritic, he still has the balls to play the Gibby's]. IF I had Clapton at my house this instant, I'd tell him to stop fucking around with Fenders. I was happy for the back to the Cradle album because he cared enough about the songs to play Gibby's for many of the songs [if not Les Paul's or ES's]. At any rate, I don't give a flying shite what anybody else thinks about his playing... it's about how a player reacts to a MAKE and design. Some guys are fantastic Fender lads and there are guys who it makes me cringe when they switch up from Gibson to Fender and the same goes the other way around. :-)) Clapton was only God on a Les Paul :-)))))
