I get all sad and misty and nostalgic seeing this clip, reminder of my lost youth, as both Paul and Rick were two of my musical idols, along with Levon, Muddy, Little Walter....all gone now. But their music lives on through their recordings and filmed performances. Is it possible Paul was underrated as a harp player and singer?? I think so.

heard today the butter and the band were voted into the rock and roll hall of fame...the paul butterfield band were among the 1st to infuse the blues with rock and roll and if the purpose of this hall of fame is to recognize those who were involved with rock well maybe this is a case of whoever these mystery voters are of getting it right...the line-up you see here were pretty awesome too...remember this was a time in the late 70's when disco ruled and you really appreciated the chance to hear guys like danko and butter perform together...they both had their demons but that didn't stop them from getting on stage and letting it rip...and so mr. roby you folks in Cleveland might just be getting something worthwhile for your tax dollars spent on this hall of fame...there are other artists who belong as well who have been passed over but for tonight I'm going to remember fondly the paul butterfield blues band and wish paul b godspeed...

What a gig!!! Everytime the pumping blues goes into the change. It´s pure magic!! The drums has problems with the tempo. No irritation, the feeling is there. Wowhhh!

There are more clips of this same concert out there and it seems that Butter is 'talking' to the drummer a lot. My guess is the drummer is new or filling in with the band and is not sure of the tempo. The bass player is trying sync with him on the tempo. Paul keeps looking at the drummer. Seems like the drummer is rushing to me? Or maybe Paul wants is a little faster? I dunno. At times the song finds the pocket. Still a good performance and fun to listen too!

Actually, they started playing faster pretty quickly into it...started out pretty slow. A good drummer will prevent that from happening (to a degree), but when the bass and guitar push it, it's hard to stop it.

Unreal. Butter is my harmonica idol...I can match about 3 notes before I get lost. He is unreal.

The Band has been and still is one of the most overrated acts ever .

Hear about 4:00 in when everybody got excited and started playing faster? They really needed in-ear monitors and a click track. Don't flame me. It's a joke.
