Although you could say it is not true democracy, it is better than being at the whims and possible insanity of a one person dictatorship. Kings and Queens came to power on blood line not psychological vetting. I was a very young punk when I first heard this and dare say it was way ahead of it's time. The abstract verse changes were evident of 'Prog/Punk' leanings for me but were vital to get the point of the story across. Future genius at the time indeed and it forced a creativeness that was missing in the Punk genre of the day.

In my country, Scotland.... people i've known for years as fellow 'anarchists' are actually doing what they accused the Anarcho bands of doing.... they are 'selling out' and voting for what they think is 'independence', voting for a Scottish National Party..... ye couldn't make it up.... bloody fakes. I disagree fundamentally with aspects of Crass (mostly the rather draconian dogma and near-asexual aesthetic, etc. Punk is fun and sexy, too), but thank them warmly for being brave enough to feature Eve Libertine's middle-class accent and a sound which doesn't simply ape the Pistols or the Ramones. The section with Libertine which begins at 3:00 is actually very pleasantly reminiscent of folk-rockers Steeleye Span.
