1972 Vietnam War Song: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/JBrummer/vietnam_war_song_project/

Another "GI movement" anti-war record (Paredon Records # P-1015), released on the label founded by Barbara Dane and Irwin Silber - all the songs were written and sung by active-duty GIs at the Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. The group, founded in the spring of 1971, started their own publication called "Helping Hand".

The most memorable and startling track is "Napalm Sticks to Kids", a vivid account of US forces indiscriminately dropping bombs on Vietnam, hitting pregnant women, children, and other civilians. The record booklet credited the song to "Air Force and Army GIs attached to the 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam. Recited by Sgt. John Boychuk....a group of GIs sat down one night in a hootch in Vietnam to write these words. Each person made a verse about an incident in which he had taken part and the poem expresses their collective bitterness toward the military that had turned them into murderers".

The song made a special reference to the company Dow Chemical, which produced napalm and agent orange under a 1965 government contract. Several other suppliers stopped production of these weapons because of protests and bad publicity. But Dow Chemical continued as the sole provider of napalm and agent orange because of its commitment to the government.

"We shoot the sick, the young, the lame

We do our best to kill and maim

Because the kills all count the same, Napalm sticks to kids

Flying low across the trees, pilots doing what they please

Dropping frags on refugees...a group of gooks in the grass

But all the fighting 's long since past

Crispy youngsters in a mass...

Drop some napalm on the barn, it won't do too much harm

Just burn of a leg or an arm...children cowering in a pit

Dow Chemical doesn't give a shit, napalm sticks to kids

They're all VC when the bombs explode...killing gooks is macho fun

If one's pregnant, it's two for one...

What the hell let's drop the bomb"

We shoot the sick, the young, the lame,We do our best to kill and maim,Because the kills all count the same,Napalm sticks to kids.Flying low across the trees,Pilots doing what they please,Dropping frags on refugees,Napalm sticks to kids.Flying low and looking meanSee that family by the streamDrop some nape & hear them screamNapalm sticks to kids. Gooks in the open, making hay,But I can hear the gunships say,"There'll be no Chieu Hoi today,"Napalm sticks to kids.A group of gooks in the grassBut all the fighting has long since passedCrispy youngsters in a massNapalm sticks to kids. See those farmers over there,Watch me get them with a pair,Blood and guts just everywhere,Napalm sticks to kids.I've only seen it happen twice,But both times it was mighty nice,Shooting peasants planting rice,Napalm sticks to kids.Napalm, son, is lots of fun,Dropped in a bomb or shot from a gun,It gets the gooks when on the run,Napalm sticks to kids.Drop some napalm on a farm,It won't do too much harm,Just burn off their legs and arms,Napalm sticks to kids.CIA with guns for hire,Montagnards around a fire,Napalm makes the fire go higher,Napalm sticks to kids. Ox-cart rolling down the roadPeasants with a heavy loadThey're all V!C! when the bombs explode.Napalm sticks to kids.I've been told it's not so neat,To catch gooks burning in the street,But burning flesh, it smells to sweet,Napalm sticks to kids. There's a gook down on her knees,Launch some flechettes* into the breeze. Her arms are nailed to the trees.Napalm sticks to kids. Children sucking on a mother's tit,Wounded gooks down in a pit,Dow Chemical doesn't give a shit,Napalm sticks to kids.Blues down on a road reconSee some children with their momWhat the hell -- lets drop the bombNapalm sticks to kids. Bombardiers don't care a bit,Just as long as the pieces fit,When you stuff the bodies in a pit,Napalm sticks to kids.Eighteen kids in a No Fire Zone,Books under arms as they go home,Last in line goes home alone,Napalm sticks to kids.Chuck in a sampan, sitting in the stern,They don't think their boats will burn,Those damn gooks will never learn.Napalm sticks to kids.Cobras flying in the sun,Killing gooks is macho fun,Get one pregnant and it's two for one,Napalm sticks to kids.Shoot civilians where they sit,Take some pictures as you split,All your life you'll remember it,Napalm sticks to kids.NVA are all hard core,Flechettes never are a bore,Throw those PSYOPS out the door,Napalm sticks to kids.Gather kids as you fly over town,By throwing candy on the ground,Then grease 'em when they gather 'round,Napalm sticks to kids. They're in good shape for the shape they're inBut, God, how I wonder how they can winWith napalm running down their skin,Napalm sticks to kids.

They played this on the pa at the mock prison camp we were in for survival training - we learned how to resist the enemy if we ever became a prisoner or war - III: "If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
