Covenant - Brave New World

This is one of their best songs. They started as a down-beat industrial band, but are now much more up-beat and dancey -- but they never lost what makes their music great in the transition. They put a lot of thoughtfulness into their music, keep it purely industrial, and honest.

I wouldn't even call it dark, but rather a subtle and sincere disappointment, but nothing to despair over. If anyone finds themselves depressed by this, it's because they're living in denial.

I feel a lot better when I try to embrace the positive things in life -- that is for sure. And feeling good is most important. But there's just something very appealing to me -- an allure towards this kind of music.

You seem to imply that dark=depressing but there is a huge difference between "the world is a dark place so let's hang ourselves" and "the world is a dark place but we'll still have fun". Not wanting depression is fine. Not wanting darkness... I think you are fighting yourself, trying to be a different person, killing off part of your personality (i.e. part of yourself), but I believe it is possible to use it to your advantage. Think about what exactly you wish to gain by getting rid of it.

2. Could the dark mood of it be removed without destroying what makes it good? Damnit. Why do I have to like music so much that /now/ makes me feel depressed? This music sounds so bad-ass and perfect to me. Maybe it was adding to my depression before, too, but I just didn't know it then. I was also on mood-altering medication then, as well. So, who knows how that affected me and how I responded to things, perhaps, differently than I do now.

1. Thank you. I will check these out. I'm not sure if what I want is possible. Can one actually remove the depressing parts of the music and still retain what makes it good? I'd love the Skinny Puppy album, "Bites", without the depressed feeling that comes with it. I want the beats, the music. Doing different lyrics and samples would be easy, and changing the vocals to be less harsh, but it would still have a dark sound.
