This song is pure poetry to music - stunning! *Anna Begins* - *by Counting Crows*My friend assures me "it's all or nothing"I am not worried- I am not overly concernedMy friend implores me " for one time only, make an exception." I am not not worriedWrap her up in a package of liesSend her off to a coconut islandI am not worried - I am not overly concernedwith the status of my emotions"oh", She says, "you're changing."But were always changingIt does not bother me to say this isn't loveBecause if you don't want to talk about it then it isn't loveand I guess I'm going to have to live thatbut, I'm sure there's something in a shade of grayor something in betweenand I can always change my name if that's what you meanMy friend assures me "it's all or nothing`But I am not really worriedI am not overly concernedYou try to tell your self the things you try tell your self to makeyourself forgetto make your self forgetI am not worried"If it's love" she said, "then were gonna have to think about theconsequences"She can't stop shaking and I can t stop touching her and.....This time when kindness falls like rainIt washes her away and Anna begins to change her mind"these seconds when I'm shaking leave me shudderingfor days" she says. And I'm not ready for this sort of thingBut I'm not gonna breakAnd I'm not going to worry about it anymoreI'm not gonna bend. And I'm not gonna break andI'm not gonna worry about it anymoreIt seems like I should say "as long as this is love..."But it's not all that easy so maybe I should justsnap her up in a butterfly net-Pin her down on a photograph albumI am not worriedI've done this sort of thing beforeBut then I start to think about the consequencesBecause I don't get no sleep in a quiet room and...The time when kindness falls like rainIt washes me away and Anna begins change my mindAnd every time she sneezes I believe it's loveand oh lord.... I'm not ready for this sort of thingShe s talking in her sleep-it s keeping me awakeAnd Anna begins to toss and turnAnd every word is nonsense but I understand and andoh lord. I m not ready for this sort of thingHer kindness bangs a gongIt's moving me along and Anna begins to fade awayIt s chasing me away. She dissappears, and oh lord I'm not ready for this sort of thing

This songs words have always haunted me. I have not heard it for years, woke up tonight thinking about it. Now I know why...

August and everything after. Rush of blood to the head. Crows and Coldplay. The two albums I pick first whenever I take a long highway trip. Especially if driving alone to ponder on the lyrics. These albums are masterpieces.

The best Counting Crows song. And they have a lot of great (especially early) songs. This tops them all.

IMO: One of the greatest songs ever written that hardly anyone knows about.....hidden on August and Everything After behind the massive hits Mr Jones and Round Here....

I sometimes believe that this song is about a man getting into a relationship with a single mother. At first he doesn't consider the child a variable. As the relationship goes on, he starts to realize that he is falling in love with the daughter but doesn't love the mother. This is what ultimately ends the relationship. Also check out Frank Turner's cover.

Still not completely sure what the real meaning is behind the song but it made me think and stop the relationship I was in at that time. Im glad I did, it wasn't love at all, she depended on me because there was nothing there for her. One of the best songs Adam ever made :)

It's strange how things come to mind? Lately in my daily walks, I have been seeing a lot of crows? Loud birds, big and they will be heard! But that is probably how this album came to mind? It took awile, but by Jove I think I've got it? So I'm trying to remember what I was thinking before, that is what I wanted to say? But I have just woken up! That's my excuse, what's yours?
