One of the best Heavy Metal albums of the 80's, and from a "punk" band too! Every track is a killer!

I think a Thrasher article turned me on to this band in the 80s. This album is awesome. And a cover by Pushead is the cherry on top!

1st time I saw COC was Animosity tour at San Antonio's Bone Club. This was THE punk place of S.A. in the early-mid 80s. When COC played it was controversial because most punks weren't happy with COC putting out a "thrash/metal" (term "crossover" didn't exist then) album on the heels of such an incredible release as "Eye..." There were many fights of punks & metalheads that came. Club was filled beyond capacity & it was an extreme, violent crowd & much FUN! Eye with ERIC EYCKE is COC's best IMO.

Allways heared about C.O.C but never payed attetion... Also, thought that they were an Sludge/Shouthren act, but I have the obsession of listening to the first albuns of every band that I end up knowing and thank fuck I do so. Because this Thrashy sound is an outstanding, mindblowing track! Yet really need to get used to short songs.. XD Ths for the post! \m/

Yeah I was looking for this older stuff for a while! Newer stuff is alright but I like that punk-like recorded in a public toilet sound ya know?

I got a first opinion about them listening the song 'technocracy', back in 1989 and was favorably impressed... Blind was realeased : i was really amazed by the darkness of that album... I wanted to know more about them and got into their previous stuff... As i was into thrash-metal, i was converted as a new fan when i heard Eye for an Eye (God bless Eric Eycke!)... Yeah, C.O.C has always been a versatile band with many influences (sabbath, hardcore, thrash, ...) . A huge and so underrated band!

Still it's a seriously great record and ranks among the best .

I think that depends on what side of the Crossover fence you came from. Most punks call Eye For An Eye their masterpiece which is more proto Crossover while Animosity came off as a bold but awkward transition record. Some great songs, but more of a respectable stab at merging the "swamp sabbath" influence with a tighter, cleaner thrash sound which granted posed a greater challenge to pull off than stock Crossover and perhaps why it took till Technocracy for them to iron out the kinks.

Nope dude... Not better, but just different (kind of Crossover's emperors!)... By the way, Animosity is a true masterpiece of that genre... Yep, probably unsurpassed!

Technically I can die now, because I met Reed and Mike after they played this and like ten other tracks from this album on stage at the Beaumont last night. Then they finished the night with Technocracy. I'm leaving on an up note.

"Swamp Sabbath" shit was always a part of CoC's sound, even as a hardcore band

One of my all time favorite albums. Why they started playing that Swamp Sabbath shit is beyond me. This just reeks of energy and they also did live.
