'Father Murphy' is the story of a Catholic priest who played a leading role in the Wexford rising and fought side by side with the people. In the song he says: 'Now priest and people must fight
or die'. Probably still today there are progressive priests in the north of Ireland
who on the basis of their daily association with the people also support their just
struggles. The support given by Buddhists to the Communists in South
Vietnam is a similar instance.
