Official Lyrics:

Times are a changin’

But I'm still the same just as messed up as I’ve ever been

I act like I did back when I was a kid

But it hurts me more than it did back then

I go out on the town and make a fool of myself

I run around with the same rowdy friends

I get drunk and obnoxious

And wake up the next day swearin' I'm never drinkin' again

Yeah, my grandma still tells me

Enough is enough

Life ain't a game, son

It's time to grow up

Maybe next year, I'll start acting my age

Turn a new leaf over my wicked ways

Get a real job and start pullin' my weight

Only 365 days

Until I change my ways

I dress like a slob

I never tuck in my shirt

I let it hang over my baggy jeans

I wear an old baseball cap on the top of my head

With the logo of my favorite team

I'm a big ol' kid

But I ain't ashamed

'Cause when the time comes around

I know I can change

Maybe next year, I'll start acting my age

Turn a new leaf over my wicked ways

Get a real job and start pullin' my weight

Only 365 days

Until I change my ways

Maybe next year I'll quit blowin' all of the cash

Start working out and get off of my ass

Maybe next year I'll quit putting off all the chores

Maybe next year I'll visit my grandparents more

Maybe next year I'll go back to Church and repent

Maybe next year I'll pick up my Bible again

Maybe next year I won't be singin' the blues

Maybe next year I'll start telling the truth

Maybe next year I won't stay drunk all the time

Maybe next year I'll have a little more peace of mind

And maybe next year

I won't be so sad when I'm alone, alone, alone

So alone, alone, alone

I’m alone, alone, alone

Maybe next year, whoa oh

Maybe next year, oh yeah woah

Maybe next year, oh

What a lot of you don't understand when you say "mainstream" is that he actually writes all of his own songs. Every part of them. If he made all of his songs sound just like the old ones, you would complain that he was just repeating himself. He is an amazing artist. And I don't think most people realize that no many people in the country music industry write their own songs, and music. There are some out there, but finding ones that are as humble as him, is very rare. So, with that being said, sit back and enjoy music written by someone that actually wants to progress his sound, and not make everything sound the same.

I don't know why everybody's so butthurt about one line being changed in the song. This version is better than the original. Maybe 21 isn't better, but this was definitely a positive change.

He not only changed the lyrics but the guitar is COMPLETELY different now.. I grew up in my teens listening to the originals.

What y'all have to understand is that this is his music. He's not trying to alienate fans or go too mainstream. He's adjusting his lyrics to fit where he's at in his life. Plus, some of his songs are too racy for radio and the like. Quit complaining and be happy for the dude's success. Yeah the old version was great. Keep it up Corey!

I own every album through outtakes and have seen you live a couple times. Unfortunately since you've decided to go "mainstream" or whatever you're doing I have bought a CD or checked out a show. I'm obviously not the only one of your fans who feels this way. I'll keep an ear open for you to return to the old style... Best of luck
