They did not realize? Recording Del Monaco was modified. It is the reason to be very fast. I believe it was originally recorded half step down.

Too really appreciate MDM'S Voice fully you needed to be in the house as it did not record as well as Franco's. I did see and hear both tenors in house and with DMD there it was greater. Corelli sounded very much lie his recordings in house. Some other more  Lyric tenor's  I've seen in the opera house seem to be bigger sounding especially  on Studio Rec. then in the house.

 "di quella pira" Monacos performance seamed like more light than Corellis like it would be a walk in a park. (impresive) . Corelli sang slower,. tempo. At this point  it is hard to me to state a clear opinion I lack the knowledge of a proffesional singer. So i should  sit down on this one i think . But I Like the idea of a Tennor battle. GREAT TENORS

Großartiger Vergleich zwischen Tenore spinto und Tenore robusto! Corelli hatte ja nach seinem Salzburger Manrico(1962) Karajan versprochen sich mit der Partie des Othello auseinanderzusetzen. Leider ist es nie dazu gekommen! Es ist eigentlich müssig darüber zu spekulieren, aber ich glaube (einige wenige Aufnahmen deuten darauf hin) Corelli wäre ein ganz großer Otello geworden! Sein Mentor, Lauri Volpi war ja ein beeindruckender Otello, soll in aber davon abgeraten haben!?Vielleicht hat ihn aber auch die 20 jährige Dominanz von del Monaco in dieser Rolle davon abgehalten!?

Bravi entrambi, ma Del Monaco è certamente superiore. Poi non è vero che Di  Stefano era il Claudio Villa della lirica. Mario del Monaco, Di Stefano, poi gli altri.

MDM had a very strong voice he was one of the top tenors ....but in My opinion what makes a tenor stand out is the character of his own voice ...its when you hear 20 tenors singing and knowing who they are by the sound of there voice is what i think makes a tenor a real tenor and at times MDM sounds like any other tenor with the same voices...Corelli on the other hand his voice could be heard a mile away and you'll know its him corelli to me was the tenor of tenors MDM is #2 next to Corelli
