Little Jimmy Dickens did it first in 1965, Mel Tillis had the first big hit with it in 1967, Charley Pride had a great version on a 1967 LP, James Carr had a soul hit with it in 1968, and the list goes on and on. I love most of the versions. We all have our favorite versions but the REAL credit needs to go to country music hall-of-fame songwriter Harlan Howard who wrote it.

Here's the Album that "Life Turned Her that way" is on...Not sure if it is on CD. So many people did this cover. Little Jimmy Dickins, Mel Tillis, Willie Nelson, Conway, and Ricky van Shelton seemed to have the best luck with it out of all those that have done it. Hope this helps.
