Thousand miles

Forgetting

Anything

Everything

Wheels racing

Black cloud gaining ground

Engine roars

Rain pours down

The chase is on

My black cloud

Gaining ground

Three years spent

Outrunning

My demon

And her ring

Keep moving

With engine heart

And boiled blood

I will push on down

My wounded roads

I can outrun

I will outrun you all

Horsepower hope

Find me a home

In brand new arms

That won't let go

Racing on to my end

@xxoreficul Are you high? Or do you not understand what "Original and well* constructed" even mean? Anyways, I encourage you to take another listen. Converge really grows on you if you focus on details, as well as just let it play.

@IAintScaredOfNoGhost well, I AM TELLING, that he is good xD and yes, they are incredible, and no, im not a drummer :) pleased? :D

@xxoreficul if you can't tell that the drummer is constructive and intuitive, then you probably either aren't a drummer, or you simply can't tell what hes doing. Ben Koller has a solid style, but there are definitely crazier drummers out there. You obviously are a novice when it comes to music, look up George Kolias or Derrick Roddey and tell me they aren't incredible. Being fast when you're a talented drummer just means you can do everything already and it's the only way to progress.

I think this is a good example of Ballou's drum recording/mixing assuming he did it himself on this record. The acoustic and trriggered sounds are pretty clear. If you have a keen ear I think you can hear the blend on the kick and toms. It's very effective at cutting through the loud, dense mix but not as fake or over massaged as many metal recordings. Still, I would love to hear a simple acoustic drum mix with a lot of the room for a raw live sound. I read about his methods in TapeOp.

ah you misunderstood me :D most of metalheads want "drums fast and hard" i want them "fast and hard" but original and good constructed too :)

CosmicTurtle21

@xxoreficul eh? the drumming is a surprisingly essential part of Converge. the idea that they "just have to be fast or hard" makes me wonder if you are actually appreciating this band truly, or just because they are loud and fast

:-P I got'cha man. It is nice to be able to rip your vocal cords apart AND know what you're screaming about.

:p you misunderstand me. I LOVE there sound. It's so freaking raw. But I only listen to their latest 3 albums because I can differentiate between the words and because the lyrics on the lyric sheet are correct. Rather than how with the other albums, the lyrics are the jist of what he's saying but not what he's really saying. but you can't pick it out because the vocal distortion is too heavy and makes many of the consonant and vowel sounds sound the same :P that's what i was saying

oh yes! much people do not care so much at the drums, they just have to be fast or hard or something like this, noone looks at the complexity of percussion
