I'd never heard this version till now. Connie's style is so confident and the voice assured--in the 60s I bought the Sandy Posey hit. Sandy's voice was very vulnerable and delicate by comparison. I'm only just starting to listen to Connie Smith,but already I like the fact that she doesn't muck songs about : rather she presents her own bold interpretation.
