I am sure all these posts, both North and South, are confusing to foreigners. Looking in from the outside, one might get the idea that Americans are ready to "go at it" once more. The truth is that very few of us would advocate splitting the sheets again. We may argue over just how far the "Yanks" can stretch the Constitution... or whether the "Rebs" could actually secede legally... BUT neither side would ever take up arms against their brothers again as happened in 1861. Any arguments today will be fought out on the political battlefield in the voting booths and in the courts.Nevertheless, none will ever forget our history... nor should they.

Ironic of how fates of two seemingly completely different nations in different places can be bound by fate. In early 1863 conflict that could be a World War almost have errupted for two reasons : Britain and France supported CSA and Polish January Uprising against Russia- and because of those later Russia was the only power to openly support Union. Situation was very tense especially because of Poland- Napoleon III even convinced Austrian Emperor to join would-be war in exchange for Habsburg king on recreated Polish throne- and Royal Navy was to break US blocade of Southern coasts- even more willingly, because in event of war Tsar decided to hide his pathetic fleet in US ports...A war that could have liberated two nations finally didn't errupted- and both those nations were crushed. Southern fate was thus better the winners didn't seek too barbarian retaliation- while Russians were executing on mass scale (see: Muravyev), deporting to Siberia and then trying to completely destroy Polish culture.At this time Yankees (unlike Confederates) were also the only western nation unfriendly towards Polish causeCassius M. Clay even wished Russia victory over "Catholic, reactionary Poland" and one of newspapers wrote "A (Polish) rebel is rebel and deserves hanging"

There are to free themselves from the shackles of a central government in the world aspirations. Citizens, the freedom and independence are committed to it no longer tolerate to have their corrupt states who feel obliged solely to banks and financial centers, determine foreign and suppress. If people were to really think about it, we have in this country a new "South" and a new "Confederation of States" that has been politically developed over the past 60+ years; and recently has truly gained "steam" in the political arena. This is the politically divided RED vs BLUE States view of all things political. What is most interesting, is this divide is not solely limited to the original "Southern States". It does go into several Central and what are considered "Northern" States as well.What an interesting map of the United States it would be if the "Red" States attempted to separate as the Old South tried and succeeded in their doing so. Shall indeed be well worth watching eh?
