This is a simple comparison between a few of the available 1176-plugins, used as a vocal limiter. The plugins are all set to a ratio of 20:1 and level matched to a certain degree...

The vocals are tracked using a Röde K2 tube microphone into a Universal Audio SOLO/610 mic preamp.

Vocalist is Joakim Mellberg from the band Bella deBosco (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bella-deBosco/121541411226). Check out their debut album at Spotify: http://open.spotify.com/album/1E6SFGkgQ7fkYycnO5o1Ek. This song is recorded for his solo album scheduled for release in the end of 2013.

I feel that the Waves Bluey beat up the Waves Blacky in this case. Native Instrument's VC76 sounded the best to me, but I feel that The Rocket was very close. The Rocket is just so damn cheap that, even if it placed last here, it'd still easily be worth getting. All of these plugins are good.
