His songs are just too intelligent. You keep coming back for the flow and feel, but as you start uncovering the meanings you become obsessed by how much thought is behind each sentence

I thought dislikes go away if you liked the video afterward. Man, that sucks.

Amen to the both of you. I'm glad to see there is some intellect remaining on Youtube, and it is unsurprising to me to find it in the comments of a Common Market video. This is what Youtube comments are for; public forum. Not public flamedom.

There's a reason there aren't any dislikes.

26 people aren't really thieves, but want to make other peoples lives better in the end by giving them something...

Since I'm spamming here, to sum up the last verse quickly, Ra Scion says that he won't change his style just to appeal to the masses. The "thieves and crooks" that he refers to could be his fanbase, or the people who listen to more mainstream music, I'm not sure. Though yeah, that's just what I can make from it; sorry for leaving so many comments. I did leave out the part where he mentions killing someone in Houston - I'm unsure on that one.

"Inestimable gems swapped for peridot Pawn it off as hard-rock, shoppers go hysterical" These "inestimable gems" refer to the qualities or idiosyncracies that make us who we are, but he's traded them for peridot, which is a green ($) which is USED as a gem, but isn't actually one.

"Cinnamon sugar on my raison d’être" - putting a gloss on his life, making his being more "tasty" (marketable) to audiences. "Dribble the ribald off a baseline" - a ribald is someone who is filthy and vulgar (in other words, a gangster) so he puts that forth in his songs. "Flung a bitter syllable off a sweet tongue," - he's a good person but he's speaking of bad things. Contd.

I think that it's, simply, about rappers or musicians who pretend to be something that they're not. The first verse is Ra Scion speaking from the perspective of one of these "studio gangsters" who perhaps originally spoke "good". "Spread through the procession with a phaeton hitched up to Thoroughly bred equine, bet he try and cover the spread" - kind of like, a knight in shining armour, but "he" (record exec) tries to cover that up, because it isn't marketable. Contd.
