I wrote this song for my friend & cousin when they got married. They had been together for 10 years so it was always a joke among our crew they were "common law" married. I sang this as a surprise for them at their reception. I recorded this using my camera the morning after. Lyrics are below...
Brown hair brown eyes
Teenage allies
No such thing as too soon
That was the day she said I like you
Still around, still right there
For goodness sakes its been 10 years
Its confirmed, yes they share
This natural mystic floating in the air
Together they saw
The way to have it all
Love was the common law
Plane rides to new beach scenes
Nerves quake quick heart beats
Hand in hand on bended knee
That's when he said let's get married
Then she says, she must confess
The years with you have been the best
We've got this ring, I've got my moms dress
With a smile she said yes
Together they saw
The way to have it all
Love was the common law
The time is here, she's in her gown
Aisle is lit her dad walks her down
Vows are spoken with few around
It is special, no one makes a sound
For rich or poor she's by his side
For better or worse he'll be her guide
From this day on they'll start their life
Two as one, husband & wife
The reverend says "Now that you swear,
Bow your heads for a prayer,
God take care of this pair,
By the power in me I declare,
We all love and support you all....
Your marriage is now common law"
