What i like about the videos such as this, is, There is a story behind it that leads to the explanation of why the song was written. This certainly makes his songs much more understandable and set them apart from other christian artists. I hope someday i will have the opportunity to see him in concert. He really speaks to the broken and those who are lost. God knows we have many and only few are chosen which is why people like Colton are used as disciples to plant seeds and be fishers of men.

You being on American Idol and singing some Christian music makes me so happy because you are showing us that even when we're the minority, we can do amazing things

I lost my faith in god this past year and thank you for giving me back that faith and hope in him and in life. Great future ahead of you. Love you colton

The way I interpret "the air I'm breathing" is that air is something necessary to survive. We need the air, the air sustains us, just like we need God, and He sustains us and gives us life. It's not so much that God literally IS everything, but He created everything and has power over all things in this world, so in a way He is in everything - that's how he can be "the song I'm singing" because he gave us the vocal chords to sing and the creativity to make music, and is the inspiration behind it

Could it be that because he has a great voice and is stunning to look at that maybe you are a "little" jealous? He is very talented and I see no signs of his being puffed up. He also belongs to the LORD so it's a win/win. What about you? What are you doing about your sins, may I ask?

He's saying God is absolutely everything and he is absolutely everywhere. God is not only the provider, the healer, etc., he is also the very air we're breathing. Don't take the lyrics too literally. Colton wrote this to show people that if he's gonna be famous, God will still be the center of his career. That's why his first album is purely Christian. ;)

I wonder, if i was one of those crazy evangelical christians who pay money for this crap elevator muzak, that i would take anyone seriously who can rock a guyliner and a perfectly coifed fauhawk straight from mid 2000's like that.

What exactly do you mean when you say that God is the "song" you're singing and the "air" you're breathing? I love this song, but I fear that these lyrics could come off animist or pantheistic. In all honesty, the comment "God is everything I'm not" doesn't explain this very well. I'm not a tree, but God isn't a tree either. I definitely don't want to demean the lyrics to this song, but I think words are important. God gave us His Word, and we should line our words up with His.
