Dear cold, I wish I could meet you guys growing up in the 90s was hard but it had some of the most realistically music ever made. Their prophecies reverberate off the eardrum of all peoples, no matter race nor creed; a cold awareness seeping through the skin and into the bone marrow---across a nervous system awakened in anticipation or in horror. We see the prophets in all their incarnations, as they gnash their teeth and wale in a sorrowful exuberance, pleading for us; enacted in rituals of lamentation. We see them in the faces of the poor and destitute, in the faces of the infirmed and the deformed in body or in spirit; we see them preaching from rock-star pulpits or on the mic as MCs lathering a verse with bars that bathe the mind. We feel the prophets reaching into our souls searching for our humanity, knowing what has been lost and how far we've fallen; we feel them and repent---if only of a moment. We taste the prophets as we drink them in, a sweet bitterness on the tongue, for we know they suffer for us even when we can only suffer for ourselves.
