"Cold As Ice" was a 1977 song by British-American rock band Foreigner from their self-titled debut album. It became one of the best-known songs of the band in the U.S., peaking at number 6 in the Billboard Hot 100. It was initially the B-side of some versions of the "Feels Like The First Time" 45 rpm single. Foreigner are a British/American rock band, originally formed in 1976. They have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide (including over 37.5 million in the United States alone). Since its inception, Foreigner have been led by English journeyman rocker Mick Jones (former member of Nero and The Gladiators, Spooky Tooth and The Leslie West Band) who, in early 1976, met with ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald and formed Foreigner with American singer Lou Gramm (ex-Black Sheep), Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, and Ed Gagliardi as a sextet. Jones came up with the name Foreigner from the fact that he, McDonald, and Elliott were English, while Gramm, Greenwood, and Gagliardi were Americans. The band's debut album "Foreigner" was released in March 1977 and sold more than four million copies in the United States, staying in the Top 20 for a year with such hits as "Feels Like The First Time," "Cold As Ice" and "Long Long Way From Home." This song describes a woman who is materialistic and selfish, with the singer warning that her behavior will come back to haunt her someday. Foreigner's guitarist Mick Jones, who formed the band in 1976 and wrote this song with lead singerLou Gramm, told us: "Subconsciously you draw from stuff, things that happened in your past, things that came out of relationships, the pain and the heartache of love that is intense and then so deep, and then suddenly you lose it. The whole gamut of emotional feeling that you go through in a relationship. Sometimes they end, and sometimes they last, and when it's the final breakup, you're left with the memories of that relationship. So I go for that quite a bit. You're kind of digging down deep into your well of significant things that you recall from sometimes near tragedy that you go through at the time."In the "Revenge of the Mooninites" episode ofAqua Teen Hunger Force (season one, disc two), the Mooninites acquire the Foreigner Belt, a magical belt that makes literal the lyrics of Foreigner songs. For example: "Cold as Ice" freezes Carl solid, "Dirty White Boy" makes Meatwad act like an irreverent redneck, "Double Vision" messes up Frylock's vision, "Hot Blooded" heats up a pool the Mooninites are swimming in, and "Head Games" turns Carl's head into a Connect Four grid.

Formed in 1976 from a pair of English and a pair of Americans, foreigner didn't debute their first album until 1977 and included such hits as Cold as Ice, Feels like the First time and Long, long Way from Home. They had extremely good success everywhere they went but it wasn't until 1985 that their biggest hit "I Want to Know What love is' (inspired by a Gospel Choir) became No.1 in the USA, UK, Australia and Norway.Sadly, the original members have all been replaced because of ill health, death and personal reasons, but the Band still performs to packed audiences.  Enjoy a personal favourite of mine from my wild days.
