The second track to Coheed and Cambria's third concept album "Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV - Volume one: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness", which is my favourite album from my favourite band.
Continuing onwards from the phenomenal orchestral introduction 'Keeping The Blade', it jumps straight into a somewhat gentle acoustic piece, with an unusual but great acoustic riff.
This is the first track in the album which Claudio unleashes his vocal talents, in fact, in this current decade, there is no vocalist that can match Claudio's unique vocal style, it's a strange mix between Rush's lead vocalist 'Geddy Lee' and 'Michael Jackson', but the special spark about this album is that Claudio's vocal range has differed from the constant high's, to a slightly lower range which suits the dark themes of the album perfectly.
Claudio's vocals in 'Always and Never', show his new range from the start. While the track is soothing and peaceful, it kind of detracts from the kick-ass start 'IKSSE:3' had, which pushed you straight into some epic heavy riffage. While not the biggest problem, 'Always and Never' still is the weakest track on the whole album, which is no huge deal since the rest of the album will blow you away with the unique mix of heavy progressive metal and epicness.
From here onwards it's a powerhouse full of explosive ear-gasms, juicy riffs and Claudio's fantastic vocals.

I appreciate Coheed and Cambria's right to make their songs however they want, I just feel it's a little messed up to turn such a beatiful song, possibly even child lullaby worthy, into such a twisted thing.10 years ago
