I was bullied as a kid for being clumsy and yes, a little clueless at times. I was the one who pretended to laugh at jokes I didn’t understand so I would fit in. In high school I dropped a curling iron on my foot and got a third degree burn. I couldn’t wear shoes so kids in school saw the scar from the burn. They were really mean to me about it. In order to stop being bullied I decided to embrace my silliness and drew two eyes and a smile on the scar and called it “My Worm.” Kids stopped being cruel after that. I owned it and just said, “Yeah, I’m a little clueless at times, but that’s who I am and I’m cool with it.” No matter what your issue is, whether you’re a bookworm, a closet genius, horrible at sports, etc. the song is reminding you to be cool with who you are. Love yourself! One of my favorite quotes is by Eleanor Roosevelt. She said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” This song is just another way of saying that!
