I'm here cos I just (sadly) learned of Dallas Taylor's death earlier this year. Great track by a pretty under-appreciated band. Used to hear this frequently on NY and Philly FM radio in the late 60's, and have had the album for some 40 years now. RIP DT.

I first heard this on WMMR in Philly in the 1980s. Can't remember what show it was (I don't think it was "Psychedelic Supper") but was kinda random.

Earlier this week at work, we were forced to attend this personality recognition BS class called "True Colors".The level of enthusiasm was so damned phony, except for a few management types {who are phony as a vocation}.It was like taking part in an info-mercial full of actors only interested in getting a paycheck for a short 8 hours of attention, along with a free lunch courtesy of Panera Bread.Anyway, your personality was either Green{ my random choice], Gold, Orange, or Blue. And really...I think we all felt like Mr. Blue eventually as the afternoon wore on.

Beats Mr Paxton's original imo - dark and threatening - shades of "1984" et al Fantastic album - have the original on vinyl mono JK

No, Dallas and Michael Nay both played drums in the band.

Memories! Memories of high school early to mid 90s when I was a hippie (still am!) and I loved this album and loved the 60s- the counterculture was being relived by me. I was a rebel against grunge and alternative to nothing bullshit. Want to cry over those good memories!

Dallas Taylor played drums along w/ a 2nd drummer. They were the first band I saw that used two kits; this was before the Grateful Dead! Douglas Lubahn played the bass both w/ this group & did studio work w/ The Doors. The Doobie Bros. actually had four kits plus a percussion station for their reunion show at The Greek Theater in the early 90's; now that was some show!

The Night Owl (Allison Steele) used to play this on WNEW-FM. Haven't heard this in 40+ years. Far out man and solid.

I concur after re-listening to the original by Tom Paxton.

I think the contrast between Tom Paxton's "Mr. Blue" and Clear Light's is much greater than Hamilton Camp's "Pride of Man" and Quicksilver Messenger Service's remake, although QMS's version is clearly superior in forceful interpretation.

I'd be interested in your opinion of this realization.

Actually, I've only heard QMS's version and even now haven't heard the original! I'm going right now to hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You haven't heard of Quicksilver Messager Service version of Hamilton Camp's "Pride of Man?"

I still have this album. "Mr. Blue", written by Tom Paxton, in the rendition, is a classic. If you don't recognize the singer, it's Cliff de Young, who became an actor "Flight of he Navigator", including the debut of X-Files, etc.. They had two drummers and one was Dallas Taylor, later of CSN-Y.

Jeez, I've been thinking about this one more and more lately. Thanks for posting it, it was never that important to me, but it was kind of like a warning for the future. This must have been 1966 or 1967..
