Aelita – the Queen of Marsis one of the forgotten gems of silent-movie era. The sci-fi pioneer was premiered in the Soviet Union in 1924 (three years before Metropolis) I like it better with out the music. :)Cleaning Women - Aelita

Fascinating. Lousy politics-a Soviet Union on Mars? But the expressionistic sets and the costumes are awesome, not to mention the music.Even though it is a silent film, it was years ahead of its time.

Many thanks for uploading this wonderful clip! There are however 2 things i don't understand, which version of the movie do you have? I have much uglier text in the quiet parts on my DVD. And could you also upload the same clip with the original soundtrack?? I think Stravinskij´s music is wonderful.

Cleaning Women are coming to Midnight Sun Film Festival in Sodankylä. They play with Aelita and I hope I can go watching it. The Film Festival shows movies at the time between 11th and 15th of June. (I apologize my poor skill in English structure.)

I saw yesterday Cleaning Woman with Aelita here in Luxembourg at the Philharmonie! It was great! Outstanding! I adored them so much, and hope that they'll be back soon with another concert.

Funny thing is, the film actually seems kinda snappy when you see it condensed to the best bits like this. The full-length / long-winded version is a bit of an ordeal to sit through - at least if you don't have the Cleaning Women doing the live soundtrack thang at the same time...

Thanks for posting this, I've always wanted to see it. I saw a picture of Aelita in a magazine and I liked it so I named my charater on World Of Warcraft after her. or him... or whatever :)
