The track "Califuture" is about that optimistic bug in everyone who moves to California that makes them think that someday they will be plucked up out of obscurity to become famous. Everyone has it in the back of their mind. But the music video goes one step further into madness. It's the heart-wrenching story of a snow cone salesman trying to get a job at dirtybird and then realizing the life of a snow cone maker is really his passion.

The video is directed by Merkley??? Merkley is one of the most interesting people I have ever met, in fact the inside of his house is like the craziest curiosity shop on earth. If you live in SF its almost impossible not to run into Merkley's highly stylized photography at some point. I have done several amazing photoshoots with Merkley over the years including the cover of my 2010 remix album "Makeovers."

Whether or not Merkley and Barry Drift are the same person remains to be answered, but for sure he has worked his magic again on this music video for "CaliFuture." I barely even had to complete the explanation of the track on the phone before he was off thinking up brilliant ideas to make this video. Kudos to Merkley!!
