So many memories of that song when I was young... and now so much more meaning with time and age.I hope that someday, we will all wake again to what we almost achieved in the 1970s...Thanks!

Always loved that song, It reminded me of the stories my mom and her siblings told me about their lives in the 30's and 40's in Mississippi after their father died.

This is among the greatest "Story Songs" as we called them in the 70s , that was ever done, beautiful and classic !

It is interesting how white people listen in to black people and make racist remarks, but black people, on the whole, just listen to music.

Another blessed song of the heart. This one takes me way back when music was music and the songs touched and broke the hearts of many. The artist is none other than Clarence Carter with the song titled Patches..This is for real, not every body was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Some of us went through It, or I should say a lot of us went through It. But Jesus sees us through no matter what hardships we come acrosss during the course of our lives here on the earth. Jesus will no doubt see His children through till the end. Thank you Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Enjoy this oldie and know that Jesus is always there for you. all you have to do is call on Him. This is Mikey Mike the Preacher coming at you from Asheboro, North Carolina, May the Lord Jesus bless you all. And follow the Lord Jesus and me on His google + Pages. And please share this Page with your friends and Family thank you so much.

My Favorite Song by Clarence Carter... Brings back Memorys of how hard My Dad worked to raise all 7 of us kids....Even though it wasn't the Cotton Fields it was the Grain Fields.... I have this song in my vehicle I listen to it daily!!!! it has such powerful words and such meaning on how hard our fathers worked and how far we've come today... I Miss May father....

patches felt like he couldn't go on? huh? feeding chickens and chopping wood ain't that hard. you try pushing drugs for a living and having a big, fat, non-stop-talking loudmouth nigger mama for a mama...now, THAT'S hard

Omg, I am soo sad now. Poor patches. Did he graduate? Did the farm go under? Did he ever find love in such impoverished conditions?
