Sunset Blvd by City Boy was one of the tracks I was required to play by my "PD" (local radio supervisor) during my job as overnight FM DeeJay in late 1976.Cheesy job, to be sure! (Overnight F-ing DeeJay) Goddamit!!!NOT a bad song! It got REALLY inferior publicity in the MID 70s!

City Boy was one of my favorite bands and I think Slamer is probably the most unkown great guitarist. If you like this song, check out Slamer's Superstar which has a similar theme and dynamics.Slamer is still showing going strong in Seventh Key. 'I will Survive' shows he has only gotten better with age.

*Lets take a step into the mid 70's and this pretty nice tune ... :-)**No... No golden mile**Or flashing cameras, the ritzy style**Just ... just scrap book smiles.**There's no need to hurry, when all she has is time**She, she, she, she's going home**Between the pagodas and always alone ...*#cityboy #mikeslamer #70smusic #goodmusicforgoodpeople

.....well of course it was the 1970s not the 80s, but I do well remember one famous gig at Birmingham Odeon when they were support for Sutherland Brothers & Quiver, who had just got to No.1 with "In The Arms of Mary." It was like playing a Cup Final on your home ground for City Boy, and when the headliners eventually hit the stage half the audience had already seen what they came for and drifted off to the bar! Had to feel sorry for SBQ really :-D

Saw the boys live a few times back in Brum in the 80s, and shared a couple of drinks with the guitarist Mike Slamer in the local pub. Now just back from my own trip to Sunset Boulevard LA reminds me of some great songs from a very, very fine band indeed.

*Time for some good old tunes ... :-)**Down on Sunset Boulevard, you'd sell your soul before your car is paid for.**The only laughing sound you hear, from blind men cause they hold no fear of darkness**With every flashing theatre light, a startled welcome through the night is glowing.**But every mother's son is dead, they choked upon the daily bread they prayed for ...*#cityboy #fridaysrock #goodmusicforgoodpeople

I was privileged to see this band at my old school Wellington College in 1976 and it was a thrill then. I can't believe they did not achieve greater fame, their music is awesome and lyrics inspiring. Thank you YouTube!
